As many of you know, we are gallivanting through parts of Southeast Asia for 6 weeks. We are spending approximately a month in Vietnam, and then we are planning to travel in parts of Cambodia and Thailand. We figure this would be a nice way to finish up our medical school requirements and relax pre-Match.
While in Vietnam, we are doing an international elective at Vinh's Children's Hospital in central Vietnam. We are very excited to be working with an organization called Project Vietnam (www.pvnf.org). Our project focuses on asthma and respiratory disease in Vietnamese children. We are going to be working in the hospital, its clinics, and local schools to identify some of the environmental health factors that affect the children's health.
We couldn't be happier about exploring a new culture while still learning to be better pediatricians. Plus we get to enjoy delicious food, sit on beautiful beaches, and drink mai tais from whole pineapples!
One of us is going to try and post on our blog each day. Check back periodically to learn about our adventures and fun!
With love, Kelli and Conrad
